Maria de los Angeles Pantoja Zavala at the young age of 12 yrs old won her first Mexican National Championship in the long jump establishing a new Mexican National Record. Participated in Multiple International meets all over the world including the Centroamerican Games, Pan-American Games, Ibero-American Games and World Championships. Won the Centro-American Games in Trinidad & Tobago at 14yrs of age in the 100m hurdles and 2nd in the 300m hurdles. 3rd at the Pan-American Games in the Santiago de Chile. Ran the 4x400 Relay alongside Mexican Olympians at the Iberoamerican Games in Portugal, Spain, Venezuela and Canada at the Pan-American Games. She also won the 2004 Mexican Olympics Trials in the 800m run.
In 1997 she was also the AAU National Chamipion in the 800m run. She signed a letter of intent with Texas A&M University in College Station running for the Aggies all 4 years of college. At Texas A&M She was a the top runner in the 400 hurdles and 800m run. She won and participated in multiple meets, including the Texas Relays in the 400 hurdles, 800m run, 4x 800 Relay and the 1,500m.
She was a two times Big 12 Champion in the 1000m run establishing a school record that lasted 12 years. She also established the school record in the 800m that also lasted more than 10 years and qualified to the NCAA Track and Field Championship in the 800m.
She is currently a Real Estate Broker and the Head Coach for the Cross Country team and Distance Track and Field at Pembroke Pines Charter High School in Florida. This is her first year and second season coaching the team. This year the Cross Country team qualified to the FLorida State Cross Country Meet,. This is the second year in the school history since 2014 that the school has qualified to a State Championship.
