Phoenix. Arizona-1972

Nunez, a native of Santa Maria, California, and a long-time resident of the Phoenix area, is the first Hispanic official in the history of the NBA. He joined the league's crew of officials in 1973 on a part-time basis, then signed his first full-time contract in 1975. Before joining the NBA, Nunez officiated professional rookie league games and high school and junior college contests in the Phoenix area.
