All-State Class "A" Team
Zapata, TX High School - 1967
Hein was an outstanding football player at Zapata High School in the mid-1960s. As a senior in 1967, Hein received Class A all-state honors at linebacker and helped the Hawks win a district championship. He also played quarterback and offensive tackle during his football career and was an all-district basketball and baseball player. In 1978, Hein returned to his alma mater as head football coach and athletic director.
