Sixto was one of the state 's toughest fighters during the fifties. He fought his way
thru the Golden Gloves and became the All· U.S. Armed Services National Featherweight
Champion in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He qualified for the Olympic trials in 1960.
He became Caribbean Boxing Champ while stationed in Panama. He turned pro in late
1960 and fought the best fighters in his weight. San Miguel was ranked 10th world-wide
in boxing ratings of 1961 . Two other ranked fighters in the same division Carlos Ortiz (3)
and Flash Elorde (7) later became famous champions. His record: 45 - won 4- lost.
He and his wife Dian a have four children .
