Texas Women's Public links Champion - 1955- 56


Joanne "The Little Laredo Golfer with the Big Swing" put
Laredo on the map with her golf. She attended the University of
Texas. She played in Golf Tournaments in Northern Mexico,
Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Illinois and Ohio. She was honored by
the Texas Sports Round-Up Association of Houston for "Outstanding
Achievements in the Realm of Sports." At age of 16, she made
the cover of "Golf World" National Magazine as a "Promising
Young Star." In 1956, she competed by invitation in the Tam
O'Shanter Woman's Invitational Tourney in Chicago. Also, in the
National Junior Girls Championship in Toledo, Ohio.
