Flores Piloto, born in Tampico, started his sports writing career for the Tampico Tribune in 1938. Soon after that, he moved to Nuevo Laredo. The scribe worked at El Mañana from 1942 to 1952. In 1952, Flores Piloto joined El Diario, where he was the daily newspaper's sports editor. Since 1947, Flores Piloto has also hosted the program Sports Parade over radio station XEK. Flores Piloto had interviewed and written about almost every major sports figure in Mexico. His articles also appeared in Mexico's leading newspapers. Through the years, Flores Piloto had been active in promoting youth sports in Nuevo Laredo. He was a founder of the Semana Deportiva Estudiantil, a youth sports week of competition for Laredo and Nuevo Laredo athletes which started in 1966. Flores Piloto was the president of the Mexican Professional Baseball Hall of Fame committee. He was honored in 1965 by Tamaulipas Gov. Praxdis Balboa for 25 years of involvement in youth sports.
