Camilo Rodriguez has been involved in baseball all his life as a player, coach and scout. He played American Legion baseball for McAllen in 1932-33. From 1934-50, he played semipro and pro ball in Mexico and Texas. Rodriguez was on the McAllen Palms team in the old Class C Rio Grande League from 1946-50. In 1964, Rodriguez joined the Houston Astros organization as a scout for South Texas and Northern Mexico. Rodriguez was honored by the Mexican League Hall of Fame committee in Monterrev as "Mr. Baseball," for his contribution to the sport. For years Rodriguez has organized an annual banquet in McAllen to recognize old timers in South Texas and Northern Mexico baseball.
