Rodemiro is one of the best athletes to ever play for Hebbronville High School. From 1952 to
1954, He was All-District Q~rterback being named to the Second All -State Team in 1954. That same
year, he was chosen as the All-South Texas Quarterback. He also participated in baseball and basketball
and in 1955 represented the District in the Regionals as a low Hurdler and in the 440-Relay.
Gonzalez was recruited by Texas Christian University and led them to the Southwest Conference
Football Championship in 1958 and 1959. He was the Horned Frogs starting quarterback and defensive
safety. Rodemiro also lettered four years as a pitcher and second baseman for TCU. He received the
coveted "Frog Club Award" in 1959. This is awarded annually to the outstanding TCU football player.
In 1962, Gonzalez was the backfield coach in the state "AAAA" Football Championship Brackenridge
Eagles High School Team from San Antonio. The Eagles were state quarterfinalist in 1963. That legendary
football team had Warren McVey in the backfield who later played in the NFL.
Gonzalez is presently vice-principal at Thomas Jefferson High School. He and his wife Patricia
reside in San Antonio.
